About the role

Compton Verney is looking for an experienced freelance Producer to support the delivery of a busy programme of events, exhibitions and creative projects from December 2026 to February 2027.

The Producer will lead on the practical delivery of the Christmas events programme, the immersive commission Returning Currents, and the Carla Accardi exhibition private view, while also supporting planning for the next season.

This is a collaborative role within a supportive wider team. The Producer will work closely with the Creative Programme, Commercial and Events, Visitor Experience, marketing and Audience Insights teams, drawing on the expertise of experienced Event Assistants and colleagues across the organisation.

The role has a broad organisational impact, connecting creative ambition with excellent audience experience and high-quality event delivery.

Key projects

Christmas programme — December 2026

Lead production of:

• Two concerts
• Christmas Gift Fair
• Santa event

This will include artist and supplier liaison, scheduling, logistics, risk assessments, budgets, event plans and event-day delivery, working closely with the Events and Visitor Experience teams.

Returning Currents — 13 January–28 February 2027

Returning Currents is a creation by Rebecca Evans (Pell Ensemble) and Simon East (Thunkist).

It is an immersive, interactive installation of projection, sound and 360° video in VR that reimagines folk traditions for the digital age.

The work is co-created as part of a partnership between Compton Verney and Scala Worcester and will be presented at Compton Verney from 13 January to 28 February 2027.

Much of the creative work is already complete. The Producer will lead on:

• Final production and coordination with the artists and creative teams.
• Liaison between Compton Verney, Pell Ensemble, Thunkist and Scala Worcester.
• Technical and installation requirements, including VR, projection and sound.
• Installation, testing, technical rehearsals and troubleshooting.
• Staffing, visitor experience and operational planning.
• Budget, supplier and production management.
• Launch and ongoing support during the presentation period.

Carla Accardi — private view, 21 January 2027

Support delivery of the major private view for the Carla Accardi exhibition, a partnership between Compton Verney and the Estorick Collection.

The Producer will coordinate:

• Event planning, schedules and running order.
• Partner, artist, guest and supplier liaison.
• Catering, AV and event infrastructure.
• Coordination with Commercial and Events, Creative Programme and Visitor Experience teams.
• Event-day delivery and troubleshooting.

Future programme

Support the Creative Programme team with planning and administration for the next season, including schedules, budgets, supplier liaison, contracts and production documentation.

Person specification

We are looking for an experienced producer with:

• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Experience delivering events, exhibitions and/or creative commissions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
• Experience working with artists, cultural organisations, partners and suppliers.
• Experience managing budgets and production schedules.
• A practical, calm and solutions-focused approach.
• The ability to manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• An interest in contemporary art, performance and digital/immersive practice.

Experience of VR, immersive or interactive installations is desirable but not essential.

Working with Compton Verney

You will be part of a supportive, collaborative wider team, working across Creative Programme, Commercial and Events, Visitor Experience and Audience Insights.

The Producer will bring specialist production expertise while drawing on the knowledge of experienced colleagues and Event Assistants across the organisation. The role is an important point of connection between creative delivery, operations and audience experience, with the opportunity to make a visible impact across Compton Verney's programme.

Some evening and weekend working will be required around events and the private view.

Contract and fee

The role is offered on a freelance basis for 33 days across November 2026 – February 2027.

Day rate: £350
Total fee: £11,550

Days will be scheduled flexibly across the three-month period according to project requirements, with some evening and weekend working required for events.
